Retro x Hansen Garments and Motorious

This April, I had the great pleasure of working with two significant Danish brands based in Copenhagen: Hansen Garments and Motorious.

Hansen Garments was founded in 2010 by a dynamic duo, Åse Helena Hansen and Per Chrois Christensen. It remains privately owned and run by a small, dedicated team. Åse, a Norwegian designer, holds a Master's from the Royal Danish Academy of Arts. Chrois, with a Master's in International Development and Communication, envisioned a brand that stood apart from the existing market — one focused on building strong, enduring relationships with like-minded individuals. They embraced the ethos of slow fashion, crafting seasonless garments with elements of classic menswear that encourage personal expression. Hansen clothes are made to last, using only high-quality suppliers and manufacturers personally selected, sourcing fabrics and producing in Europe to reduce environmental impact. Notably, they never offer end-of-season discounts, aiming to avoid producing garments with a built-in expiry date.

Motorious' founders have been friends with Hansen for many years. What began as a project centred around motorcycles and motorcycle apparel in a backyard has evolved into a menswear-focused endeavour. Now located in Copenhagen's meatpacking district, Motorious offers a curated selection of menswear, including Hansen Garments. Despite their growth, they maintain a grounded philosophy, always offering visitors a coffee or a beer, with old motorcycles permanently on the premises.

I was honoured to bring these two brands together, coordinating and directing a photo shoot for their Spring/Summer campaign. The collaboration proved to be a tremendous success, compelling results, and a great friendship.
